SCARPR rescues, rehabilitates, and secures permanent homes for abandoned and abused dogs found on the streets of Puerto Rico. Second Chance provides each animal with food, shelter, medical care and love. Their goal is to place each rescue into a loving home. They provide education regarding spay and neutering of all pets to help decrease the number of strays on the streets. To date, Second Chance houses an overwhelming 90+ rescues.
The animals in Puerto Rico are in desperate need after hurricanes Irma and Maria. They have suffered severe damage to kennels, trees, and fencing and are in dire need of supplies. The Humane Society of the United States has secured the first pallet of dog food to arrive on the island. Due to the severe damage of roads and bridges, transportation is still very difficult and costly for the organization.
SCARPR operates exclusively from donations and animal welfare grants, with the help of volunteers. Since its inception, Second Chance has rescued and placed thousands of dogs in loving homes.
