Success Story: Baily’s Fight

A Healthy Pooch and Perfect Poop  ~ by Baily

It may not be something that anyone decides to have an in depth conversation about besides Dr. Oz, but there is nothing like a good poop for a dog, especially me. Yes, I know how to use a remote control and after my mid-afternoon nap I do watch Dr. Oz; don’t judge me.

Degenerative Myelopathy: Baily's Fight

Thanks to Kemosabe, Tigger and all at Biostar for creating Terra Biota K9 and Colostrum 38 K9!  I am living proof that these products are making a pleasant difference in my life. Within three days after I began using these products I was sh#tting pretty, ah yes!!!!! PERFECT POOP.

I don’t know if everyone understands how important a healthy digestive track is to a dog. I do because it’s mine. It is the front line for any battle with a health problem.  It is exponentially more important to a dog with an autoimmune condition or for me a genetic condition called Degenerative Myeolopathy (DM). In human terms DM is similar to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or “Lou Gehrig’s” disease.

Although the disease is common in several breeds, including German Shepherd Dogs, Corgis, Boxers, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, and Standard Poodles, it can occur in other breeds and mixed-breed dogs as well. I am a mixed-breed dog. The typical age of onset is between 8-14 years of age, and both sexes are equally affected.  A genetic mutation has been identified that is a major risk factor for development of DM.

Degenerative Myelopathy: Baily's Fight

Degenerative Myelopathy, on its own, is not a painful disease. DM typically comes on slowly, almost imperceptibly. Symptoms generally occur as follows; loss of coordination (ataxia) in the hind limbs, wobbling when walking and/or rear feet knuckling over or dragging, mild hind end weakness, limbs become weak; a dog begins to buckle and has difficulty standing, weakness progresses until a dog is unable to walk in the hind limbs, loss of urinary and fecal continence, weakness in the front limbs. In general, without intervention, I would become paralyzed in the hind end within 6 months to approximately 1 year.

I am two years into my battle with Degenerative Myelopathy and I still chase deer in my cart when Dad takes me out. I am happy, strong-willed, full of life and spoiled beyond belief. I have not given up on life due to this minor setback. You can see by the picture of me and my dad, I am the “queen in the woods”.

Degenerative Myelopathy: Baily's Fight

I believe these products, with a host of physical therapy and exercise, have made a remarkable difference in getting me this far.  Just think what happens when I slow down and can’t run free in my cart.  The antibiotics and many other medications I need are very hard on my digestive track. Since using Terra Biota and Colostrum 38 K9 my digestive track has been great. Even when I need medications: PERFECT POOP.

So once again I wag my tail and bark out praise for the two products [Terra Biota and Colostrum 38 K9] that have given me fantastic relief. Thank you for listening to my story. Sadly, I am on this pathway and it has only one outcome. I will continue to stay strong and fight on.

Please bring awareness to this disease, educate yourself and stop by to visit my DM brothers and sisters by visiting www.cure4dm.org .
